NATIONAL READING DAY CELEBRATION 2025
A REPORT ON THE ACTIVITIES ORGANISED IN MAR BASELIOS PUBLIC SCHOOL, KOTTAYAM DURING THE 30TH NATIONAL READING DAY AND READING MONTH CELEBRATIONS.
Our school, Mar Baselios Public School celebrated 30th National Reading Day on 19th June,2025 and conducted various activities from 19th June to 17th June,2025.
Reading Day was inaugurated on 19th June, 2025 during the School Assembly conducted by students of Class VI. Former Principal, Ms Rebecca Baby Ipe was the Chief Guest. Ma'am spoke on the importance of reading. Reading Day Pledge was also taken in the School Assembly.
Malayalam Manorama, ‘Vayanakalari’ Program was organised in our school aiming to promote reading habits among students.
Painting and Drawing Competitions were conducted online for the children of Pre- Primary and Primary Classes.
A Seminar was organized on the topic ‘Reading for Development’ by our former student Yadu Nandan for the students of VII, VIII & IX.
A large scale School Book Fair was organised in the school, by DC Books from 23rd June to 25th June, 2025 and a small book exhibition was conducted by the students of Class VI, VII, & VIII to encourage reading among students.
The School observed International Day against Drug Abuse & Trafficking on 26th June. A Pledge was taken by the students during the School Assembly and an awareness program against alcohol and drugs was conducted by Class XI students by performing a flash mob in the town and in the School Assembly.
Reading was promoted through art forms in English, Malayalam and Hindi by the students of Class VIII, IX, & X.
Reading Day proclamation processions/Padha Yatras was conducted by Class XII students to encourage students to develop a reading habit.
A Book Review presentation on famous books was done by a group of students from Class IX.
‘Mass Run’ was organized with the participation of youth of Class XII with the placard ‘Read and Grow’.
The School conducted Sarang Cultural Competitions on poetry recitation in English, Malayalam for classes I to XII.
Word Competitions were organised to develop good vocabulary in English and
Class room Debate was organised in class IX to bring out their skills in communication.
A House-wise Quiz Competition on books & authors of English, Malayalam & Hindi was organised for the students of VI to IX to promote reading in students.
P. N Panicker's Reading Corner was established in the School Library to encourage reading among students.
